Subjects

Our curriculum is broad, balanced and challenging, designed to provide the very best learning and teaching opportunities.

All students follow the National Curriculum in Years 7, 8 and 9 and also have the opportunity to study Drama.  In some subjects students are taught in mixed-ability groups,  for example Music.  Whilst other subjects, such as Maths, are taught in groups according to ability.

Academic, creative and practical pathways are available to meet the needs of all learners in Years 10 and 11.   Students study a core curriculum of English, Mathematics, Science, PE and Religious Education.  The vast majority will continue with a Language and a Humanity subject.  Further choices are made from a range of optional subjects.

Religious Education is a separate timetabled subject for all students throughout Years 7 to 11 and provision is made in the Sixth Form.  In Key Stage 4 students participate in Beliefs, Values and Ethics lessons which lead to a GCSE qualification.

The Sixth Form curriculum offers a broad variety of opportunities for a wide range of abilities and interests.  In addition to their formal studies,  Sixth Form students take on many leadership roles within the school and act as role models to the wider school community.   More details about our Sixth Form are available in our Sixth Form prospectus.

Specific information on curriculum subjects can be accessed through the menu on the left.
