In the first years of secondary school all students have followed the same programme of study but when they move into Key Stage 4 students have the opportunity to make choices about the subjects and types of courses they wish to study. The booklet below offers support and guidance to students as they make decisions about the next important stage in their education.
Contained within this booklet is information about the compulsory, optional and the non-exam subjects at Key Stage 4.
There have been a number of changes made to GCSE courses and assessment including the subject matter being studied, the methods of assessment and the new numerical grading system.
We strongly recommend that students study a balanced range of subjects and the pathways we offer support students in making this choice. Students should take advantage of opportunities available to seek guidance and advice to help them make the choices that are right for them.
