Kineton High School Rebuild

I am excited to share some of the plans for the rebuilding project announced in February 2021. The DFE has appointed a contractor, Laing O’Rourke to take the design, planning and rebuild forward; along with colleagues from the DFE and Stowe Valley Trust, the school has been closely involved throughout this stage. I believe the new school will offer a wonderful place to learn and will represent the ambition the school has for its community.
As you can see from the images, all existing buildings with the exception of the Science block, which opened in 2017, will be demolished and replaced by two brand new builds and significantly enhanced landscape:

  • A three storey purpose-built school
  • A sports block comprising of a larger sports hall; fitness suite, gym and classroom
  • An additional new floodlit hard court play area
  • Coach and car parking which has enhanced safety and is future proofed for the government’s 2040 plan for all vehicles to be electric

Our new school will accommodate fantastic, much needed dining facilities, which will open out onto an outdoor eating area to the rear and side of the building. Along with the hall and library spaces on the ground floor, these will have triple height ceilings enabling light to flood the areas giving a great sense of space. All classrooms will have external views and will be designed to ensure maximum comfort. Each subject faculty will have its own suite of rooms in close proximity which will enable staff to work closely together and create a strong sense of identity for each department.

Development is due to start in Autumn 2021 and the final phase of landscaping to be completed by May 2024. The school will be able to maintain a full curriculum in its existing buildings throughout all phases and the contractors will work closely with us to ensure that there is zero impact on the students and their education throughout the project. The landscaping and external design will be sympathetic to the surroundings and offer a sustainable, carbon neutral, environment for students both internally and externally.

I firmly believe it will offer our community an outstanding place to learn and have no doubt we will all feel a great sense of pride to belong here.
